Dr. Marcy B. Bolster is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is Director, Rheumatology Fellowship Training Program in the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).

She has been a rheumatology fellowship program director since 1999, initially at the Medical University of South Carolina (1999-2012) and subsequently at MGH (2012-current).

Dr. Bolster's clinical interests are in general (all) rheumatology, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, and scleroderma. She has been actively involved in clinical trials in rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma.

She is a charter member, MGH Midlife Women's Health Initiative, and the medical lead for the MGH Fracture Liaison Service, an interdisciplinary service with focus on the management of patients with osteoporosis who have had a fragility fracture.

Dr. Bolster has a strong interest in medical education and participates in the teaching and training of medical students, internal medicine residents and rheumatology fellows. She is a member of several MGH education committees.

She has had leadership positions in the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) related to training and education; she has been active in the design of rheumatology curricula locally and nationally.

She has served on both the ACR and the Rheumatology Research Foundation Boards of Directors. She has served on the ABIM Rheumatology Board and is the Chair, ABIM Rheumatology Exam Committee (2014-2018), Chair, ABIM Rheumatology Subspecialty Board (2014-2020), member, ABIM Council (2014-2020), and Chair, ABIM Exam Chairs Committee (2015-2018).

She obtained a BA degree in Chemistry and her MD from Duke University.  She trained in Internal Medicine at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine and obtained rheumatology fellowship training at MUSC.
