The focus of the Medoff laboratory is on the mechanisms of lung inflammation in the pathophysiology of several important pulmonary diseases, including asthma, lung transplant rejection, COPD, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and influenza infection. My laboratory utilizes animal models of disease, basic cellular and molecular biology techniques, and translational human studies to investigate properties of the pathologic responses in the lung. The laboratory is part of the Center for Immunology and Inflammatory Diseases, a scientifically diverse and collaborative environment for the study of immune mechanisms of disease and the MGH Fibrosis Center, a multi-disciplinary center focused on mechanisms and treatment of organ fibrosis.
