The Laboratory of Restorative Neurotechnology is focused on developing and testing neural interface systems (brain-computer interfaces) for the restoration of communication, mobility, and independence for persons with paralysis or limb loss. Our principal activity is directing the pilot clinical trial (IDE) of the BrainGate2 Neural Interface System (www.braingate.org).

Our laboratory brings together leading neurologists, neuroscientists, engineers, computer scientists, neurosurgeons, mathematicians, and other researchers to comprise a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team that hopes to design and test neural interfaces that will improve the lives of people with spinal cord injury, stroke, ALS, epilepsy, and other neurologic diseases and injuries.

The MGH Center for Neurotechnology and Neurorecovery develops, tests, and and deploys novel neurotechnologies to improve the care of people with diseases or injuries of the nervous system.
