Research Narrative
I am an anesthesiologist who specializes in the care of neurosurgical, bariatric and gastroenterology patients. After completing residency training at the MGH, I joined the faculty at the MGH/Harvard Medical School while conducting research as part of the Harvard Anesthesia T-32 training grant.
My area of expertise is in sleep, circadian/biological rhythms in delirium and Alzheimer's disease. I have a background in computational neurosciences and non-linear dynamics that have enabled me to develop new integrative biomarkers in delirium and Alzheimer's disease.
I currently work with Drs Kun Hu and Frank Scheer at the Brigham and Women's Hospital Sleep Medicine group, Dr Oluwaseun Johnson-Akeju at the MGH, as well as Dr Richa Saxena at the Broad Institute to explore environmental (e.g. shiftwork), behavioral (e.g. sleep hygiene, meal timing, social jetlag) and genetic markers of poor cardiovascular (e.g. metabolic syndrome and diabetes), neurological (e.g. Alzheimer's disease), and pain outcomes.
My hope is to integrate these disciplines to improve the early detection and treatment of poor outcomes in the perioperative period (e.g. delirium, and other post-operative cognitive dysfunction).
