Research Narrative
The main focus of the Maguire lab is the development of more potent and safer gene delivery systemS to answer therapeutic challenges of today and tomorrow. One such technology is called exo-AAV. exo-AAV are enveloped adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors. The envelope is derived from exosomes which are lipid based nanoparticles released by cells. Exosomes have several properties which may enhance AAV-mediated gene delivery.
