epithelial cells; gut-brain axis; immune response; iron homeostasis; mucosal immunity My interests are to study the mucosal immune response to gut microbes in health and disease conditions. Studied the responses of gut epithelial cells to infectious and non-infectious injury and modulation of these responses by probiotics. My current project focused on iron homeostasis in Intestinal Inflammation, which involves identifying the factors causing anemia of inflammation. My overall interest is to study the role of gut commensal bacteria in health and various disease conditions. Future plans are to explore the mechanism of commensal bacteria involved in gut-brain axis.
