Dr. Huiru Dong is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School and a Research Scientist at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her work focuses on applying advanced data science methods to tackle urgent public health challenges, particularly substance use disorder and drug overdose. Over the past decade, Dr. Dong has led and contributed to research on statistical methodology, drug policy evaluation, social determinants of health among marginalized populations, and disparities in treatment access and service utilization.

She has authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, and her work has been featured in major media outlets, including The New York Times and USA Today. Dr. Dong serves as an associate editor for the International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction and as an editor for BMC Health Services Research. She is a co-investigator on several multi-year grants funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
