Dr. Yu is the principal investigator of the Mass Spectrometry Core Facility at the Boston Shriners Hospital. He has been involved in the projects exploring insulin resistance after burn injury, with a focus on in vivo metabolic experiments using stable isotope and in vivo imaging techniques. He is also exploring the possible pharmacological approaches to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce metabolic aberrations after burn injury, including GLP-1, CoQ10 and the mitochondria protection agent “BendaviaRT,” with the metabolic research team.

Dr. Yu’s research projects include mechanisms of metabolic disturbance in severely burned patients in the acute, recovery and convalescence phases of the injury. His research also involves the development of novel nutritional support approaches for the recovery of pediatric burn patients.
