diabetes; diabetes in pregnancy; metabolic diseases; milk human; pre-eclampsia; prolactin; vitamin d; vitamin d-binding protein Dr. Powe is a physician-investigator with a clinical and scientific focus on diabetes (high blood sugar, hyperglycemia) in pregnancy. Hyperglycemia is recognized as a common metabolic problem that has a profound impact on pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Powe's research mission is to bring the remarkable advances in understanding of diabetes pathophysiology, application of diabetes technology, and development of diabetes therapeutics to the obstetric population. Her interdisciplinary clinical and translational research program applies advances in physiologic and genetic profiling, as well as diabetes technologies, to the study of hyperglycemia during pregnancy.
