Research Narrative
Dr. Lara Traeger conducts research on behavioral medicine techniques to enhance the quality of care for patients with chronic medical conditions. Her research revolves around the study of symptom management, resilience, and quality of life among patients with cancer. She is the recipient of two grants in cancer control funded by the NIH and American Cancer Society. In her current work, Dr. Traeger is studying age differences in depression and preferences for psychosocial care in patients with lung cancer, and she is developing a program to enhance coping and readiness for chemotherapy among elderly patients with colon cancer. She has also contributed to NIH-funded research to understand and promote medical adherence and psychological health in patients with various chronic medical conditions. Her work has culminated in over 25 professional publications, including reports of original research, reviews, and book chapters.
