Research Interests
Research Narrative
My research interests include curriculum and teaching method design, simulation education, applied educational theory, performance appraisal, professional development, patient-doctor communication, and patient satisfaction.
I am currently researching the integration of core competency education and assessment within our EM residency program using a variety of teaching methods including seminars, small group work, and simulation. In conjunction with my residency team, I have also developed and implemented a model for a core set of teaching faculty committed to refining teaching methods within our residency. I have organized a simulation- and seminar-integrated, reproducible curriculum for EM training. I have the privilege of working clinically with incredibly gifted residents from many Mass General departments and enjoy the many opportunities for bedside teaching and resident professional development that our academic environment provides.
My life-long interest and commitment to education and teaching innovation informs my current pursuits of understanding simulation education, seminar-based teaching, and integration of core competency education using a variety of teaching methods. Working within the Emergency Medicine residency and MGH EM student clerkship gives me many opportunities to practice and improve upon current educational practice. I look forward to using this knowledge to improve our teaching practices for residents and students nationally in the future.
