Dr. Shokoohi is an academic emergency physician who completed his residency and his fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound in 2007 at the George Washington University, where he served as a faculty and fellowship director for 10 years. He joined the faculty at the Massachusetts General Hospital in 2017 and now serving as the Director of the Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Program and Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

His interests include the use of ultrasound in critical care, hypotension and shock, medical education, and procedural applications of point-of-care ultrasound. His research involves the study of various ultrasound applications in the care of patients with shock and respiratory distress, innovative application of ultrasound in medical education, and safety and effectiveness of ultrasound-guided procedures.

Dr. Shokoohi is a nationally and internationally known leader in the training of emergency ultrasound who travels internationally to provide educational sessions on the use of ultrasound in emergency medicine and critical care setting. He is a top researcher in the field of Emergency and critical care ultrasound who has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented at many national scientific meetings.
