epilepsy; in vivo imaging; microscopy; neural networks; seizures My long-term research interests lie in understanding epileptic networks for the development of novel treatments for epilepsy. In particualr, I aim to understand mechanisms of seizure initiation and spread. To investigate seizure onset at the neuronal level, I employ high resoltion microscropy in both in vitro and in vivo models of epilepsy. A major challenge for the study of seizures is their unpredicatable nature. I am currently developing tools to refine the when and where of seizure onset to allow for greater experimental access to study this critically important period.
