Dr. Lu is Director of Research in the Division of Cardiovascular Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Harvard University. His training included a transitional internship in Surgery and Medicine at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco, a fellowship in Thoracic and Cardiac Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital, and a T32 fellowship in Cardiovascular Imaging also at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Lu's research focuses on clinical trials of cardiac CT. He is a member of the investigative team for several multicenter trials of cardiac CT, including ROMICAT II (1,000 patient trial of cardiac CT vs. usual care for acute chest pain) and PROMISE (10,000 patient trial of cardiac CT vs. stress testing for stable chest pain). He co-chairs the REPRIEVE(Randomized Trial to Prevent Vascular Events in HIV) Mechanistic CT Substudy. He has received funding from the UCSF Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, the Radiological Society of North America, the MGH Executive Committee on Research, the American College of Radiology, and the American Roentgen Ray Society.
